I am always on a lookout for affordable and good thai food because I LOVE THAI FOOD! If you know of any hidden gems selling yummy thai food, do let me know! So the sis introduced me to Jane Thai which is located at level 4 of Orchard Towers. I usually patronize Thai Tantric but sis said Jane Thai was pretty good so I decided to try it out.It was quite quiet when we were there on a late weekday evening and there were a couple of Thais dining here as well. I think this is more popular with the Thais instead of Thai Tantric where more locals and young adults seem to frequent. The service at Jane Thai was extremely slow though. Despite the place not being crowded, we waited for more than 20 minutes for our food to be served.Thai Iced Milk Tea $3.50 - the essential beverage for a thai meal.Jane Thai's rendition tasted quite sweet and the distinct thai flavour found in Thai milk tea was not quite there. The colour was unlike the typical orange present in Thai milk tea too. At $3.50, this is not worth getting.Prawn Spring Roll (6 pc) $6The spring rolls had a crispy exterior which was not oily but the insides revealed a mushy mix of minced prawns which did not taste very pleasant. Chicken Wings (3 pc) $6The batter was deep-fried to golden and it was crispy. The batter was also flavourful but the chicken wings were too oily for my liking. I actually prefer Thai Tantric's version of (skinny) wings as they are very convenient to eat with utensils. Tom Yum Clear Soup $12We had the seafood variation. This has got to be the spiciest Tom yum soup I had ever drank. There were heaps of chopped chili padi in it and we had to scoop some up because the soup was extremely spicy. I felt like my throat was burning after every sip of that fiery hot stuff. I have to admit that the burning sensation had some kick in it even though it started to get torturous and painful after a while. I'd like to think that they had accidentally spammed lots of chili padi in it, making the soup extremely spicy because it doesn't really make sense that the soup was way above what I could tolerate since I really love spicy food and can tolerate them well.Spicy Tom Yum Fried Rice $5The rice was moist and the taste was slightly acidic and slightly spicy. I actually like this even though I do not fancy carbs. Worth the try!Overall, there were more misses than hits. Perhaps I had ordered the wrong dishes... I'd recommend you to try out Thai Tantric first if you can't decide between Jane Thai and Thai Tantric.

I heard that Jane thai has changed hands thus i went down to check it out. The servicing crews have all changed from thai to indians and I would say that the waiting time was really long despite of the fact that the shop wasn't crowded.I ordered sambal kangkong ($7) , Stir-fried basil chicken ($7) , Olive minced chicken fried rice and tom yum soup which I ended up canceling the order after 45 minutes of waiting.I was kinda disappointed that they missed my order for the tom yum soup, especially after I saw other tables which came later than me had their tom yum soup served on their table. However I do recommend the olive chicken fried rice here .The minced chicken was well marinated and the overall taste of the rice was really flavourful.Personally i feel that unless you have a lot of time to waste waiting for the dishes to come, if not there are better thai food around that don't require such a long waiting time. For more details, do check out my blog http://hannahchia.tumblr.com

My friend wanted to try Jane Thai Food and we dropped by for dinner. We decided on the garlic pork - thin tiny slices of pork fried with garlic topped on it - portion was small but the meat was alright, particularly liked the garlic; however, I would prefer that from The Basil Inn as the pork is tastier. We also had the grilled squid - nothing special and it's your typical bbq squid (took extremely long for them to serve this dish).

thai iced tea $3.50 it was quite sweet and bland, not worth the price imo.prawn cakes 4 for $10. it's quite expensive as 1 onion-ring looking patty costs $2.50. It was very crispy and yummy when eaten hot though. still worth a try! i also love the sweet chilli dip that was provided beside. tom yum fried rice $5reasonably priced a $5 and with some prawns, mushrooms, this was quite yummy. it was not really spicy for me and i was expecting the tom yum taste to be heavier though.service was quite slow even though there were not much people, waited for about 15 minutes for food to arrive.

I always love Thai food so will always try to go around trying the various ones in Singapore and thankfully Jane Thai was conveniently located at Orchard area. Was raining that night so my friend and i was craving for some hot soupy stuff. Decided to try the Beef Kway Teow Soup when i saw a kid enjoying it. This will be a great choice for everyone cause it's not spicy and suitable for both young and old =)It didn't disappoint. Nice soup base with both tender beef slices and beef meatballs. Not too bad for about $4 a bowl.
